There
was a clean sweep for Yokohama runners on last weekend’s iconic Tour of
Mull rally, with Paul MacKinnon winning the event outright and Tristan
Pye winning the Group N class of the event. Both drivers used the
Yokohama ADVAN A006T tarmac tyre to great effect, with Yokohama also
clinching the team award.
Tom
Cave, the UK’s first minor international rally driver, last weekend
accomplished his mission for his 2008 rally campaign, when he completed
the final round of the 2008 Latvian Rally Championship sixth in class.
Not only was this the 16 year-old’s best result in two years of
competition in the Baltic state but it also means that the Latvian
Automobile Federation (LAF) will grant him his international rally
license, allowing him to compete on the final round of this year’s FIA
World Rally Championship, Wales Rally GB.
Young
British rally driver Tristan Pye has clinched his second BTRDA
Production Cup title in a row, using the latest specification of rally
tyres from Yokohama. Pye, who took last year’s Production Cup and
finished third overall in the championship, cites the new gravel rally
tyres and the support from UK distributor Yokohama HPT as crucial to
his success.
This
weekend saw a perfect end to the first full season of competition for
drivers taking part in Junior Rallying, the scheme to develop the next
generation of British Rally drivers. Four of Junior Rallying’s first
stream completed this weekend’s Aizpute Rally and with it, graduated to
the next stage of their rallying careers.

Former
works rally driver Alister McRae dominated the Competition Classic
category of this weekend’s Quit Targa West rally, held in Alister’s
now-native Western Australia. The Scot won all but one of the event’s
31 stages to arrive at the finish with a margin of almost seven and a

The
UK’s leading turbocharger specialist, Turbo Technics, will be unveiling
the latest specification of its turbocharger core balancing machine for
the North American market at the Associated Diesel Specialists
Convention in Las Vegas next week. The VSR Mk4P-NA is designed
specifically to balance turbochargers in the North American and
Canadian markets, which typically use physically larger cores than
